No battery system should ever be designed to allow an LFP Battery to go completely flat. When the voltage drops below 11.5V on an LFP battery that is being discharged, the BMS will open the circuit and disconnect the internal battery cells, in what can be referred to as Cell Protection Mode.

This is why every battery system needs to be designed to include a Load Disconnect. The Victron Smart Battery Protect is a load disconnect device that will disconnect the battery from non-essential loads before it is completely discharged or before it has insufficient power left to crank the engine. It can also be use as a on/off switch for the battery system.

The Smart Battery Protect is easily programmed via Bluetooth and using the Victron Connect App. Any desired level of engage/disengage voltage can be set or one of nine predefined engage/disengage levels can be set with the programming pin (see manual). If required, Bluetooth can be also be disabled.
